Eye Care Services We Offer the Dallas Community

At MomPremier Eye Institute, we believe in providing both preventive care and urgent care to those that need it most. Whether you’re showing symptoms or not showing symptoms, we’re dedicated to keeping your eyes and vision healthy so you can live a quality and happy life.

Here’s a look at some of the quality services we offer the Dallas community:

  • Retinal Detachment - you can experience permanent vision loss if your retina starts to detach itself from the back of the eye due to the vitreous shrinking as we age.
  • Refractive Errors - nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism are some of the most common eye disorders in the world today.
  • Glaucoma - any damage to the optic nerve is glaucoma. The optic nerve is responsible for transferring electrical signals from the retina to the brain, which produces an image.
  • Cataracts - a cataract occurs when the eye’s natural lens, which is normally clear, becomes cloudy. It’s generally caused by the buildup of proteins in the eye’s lens.
  • Macular Degeneration - as we age, the eyes slowly start to deteriorate in function. The macula, which is part of the retina in the back of the eye, is one common example.
  • Floaters - when collagen protein starts clumping together in the vitreous gel of the eye, you’ll start to notice black specks and dots in your field of vision. They’re called floaters.
  • Allergies - when the eye is exposed to an irritant, the body produces histamine to combat it. This results in allergy symptoms in the eye, which can be very disruptive.
  • Dry Eyes - the tears in your eyes play an important role in protecting and moisturizing the cornea. When there’s not enough quality tears, your eyes become dry and itchy.
  • Diabetic Retinopathy - any damage to the retina (back of the eye) caused by diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy. It affects nearly 80% of long-term diabetes patients.

Are Annual Eye Exams Necessary?

The eyes are exposed to a number of dangers, risks, and consequences throughout one’s life. Not only are they subject to the normal aging process, but there are a wide variety of eye diseases and conditions that can potentially result in vision impairment or permanent vision loss.

Since these dangers present themselves on a daily basis, it’s important that you receive regular eye care from a trusted professional -- ideally once a year, unless directed otherwise. Just one 30-minute visit per year can help preserve your vision and eye health for as long as possible.

Due to the advanced technology, your eye doctor can run a number of tests and screenings during your annual exam that are designed to detect eye disease in its early stages. Not only does this allow for a more effective treatment plan, but it saves you both time and money.
