What Comprehensive Eye Care Services Do We Offer?

At MomPremier Eye Institute, we understand that your eyes can experience a number of issues throughout your lifetime. Some of these issues happen suddenly, but others occur gradually over time. Either way, we’re prepared to help you monitor, manage, and treat your condition.

Here’s a brief overview of some of the more common eye disorders and conditions we specialize in:

  • Retinal Detachment - as you age, the vitreous (gel-like substance that fills your eye) starts to pull away at the retina, causing it to detach from the back of the eye.
  • Refractive Errors - the most common types of refractive errors include nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism (blurred vision at all distances).
  • Glaucoma - any damage to the optic nerve, which is the main communication channel between the brain and retina, is known as glaucoma and can cause major vision loss.
  • Cataracts - the natural lens is normally crystal-clear and plays an important role in focusing light onto the retina. With cataracts, the lens is cloudy and it distorts vision.
  • Macular Degeneration - as you age, the macula (part of the retina) begins to deteriorate and won’t function as well as it did. This is known as age-related macular degeneration.
  • Floaters - tiny black specks or dots in your field of vision that are caused by tiny clumps of collagen protein forming in the vitreous (the gel-like substance that fills the eye).
  • Eye Allergies - when your eyes encounter an allergen or irritant, they produce a chemical called histamine, which results in the allergy symptoms we all know far too well.
  • Dry Eyes - your tears play an important role in protecting and moisturizing the eye, but dry eyes occur when you don’t produce enough tears or they’re evaporating too quickly.
  • Diabetic Retinopathy - any damage to the retina that’s caused by diabetes is known as diabetic retinopathy. It affects nearly 80% of long-term diabetes patients.

Our Patients Love Us

How Often Should You See Your Eye Doctor?

At MomPremier Eye Institute, we highly suggest every one of our patients schedule an appointment with us at least once per year for a comprehensive eye exam. Whether you have perfect vision or not, this eye exam plays an important role in early detection of eye disease.

The annual eye exam covers a lot of bases. Your eye doctor will perform a number of tests, exams, and screenings -- as well as ask you a number of questions to better understand your current eye health. It doesn’t take very long, but it can make a huge difference in your life.

Of course, you should also schedule a visit with your ophthalmologist anytime you experience abnormal or concerning symptoms. Even if it turns out to be nothing, you’re going to want to see a professional and have your eyes thoroughly looked at to ensure everything appears normal.

Signs It’s Time to Visit Your Local Ophthalmologist

There might come a time when you start to experience eye symptoms that disrupt your ability to live a quality life. These symptoms shouldn’t be ignored. In fact, you should contact your local ophthalmologist right away to determine what’s causing the symptoms and how to best treat it.

Here are some of the most prominent warning signs that it’s time to visit your eye doctor:

  • Itching or Burning Eyes
  • Vision Loss or Impairment
  • Light Sensitivity or Headaches
  • Red or Swollen Eyes
  • Eye Pain, Aches, or Strain
  • Blurred or Cloudy Vision
  • Dry or Watery Eyes
  • Flashes or Floaters in Field of Vision
